LAW-302.2 The Middle Man
Book Law
Type Rule
Keywords Points
Officer Breadman (Monocular Man)
Precedence 302
Text There exists a Time Drop known as the Middle Man Game. There is an officer in charge of this Time Drop; he/she may be referred to as the Monocular Man.

During each Interim, the Monocular Man must post, on the Public Forum, a list of 5 digits (which do not have to be all diffierent) that they have chosen at random.

Once per week, each player may submit a single mathematical expression to the Middle Man Time Drop. This expression must use the five given digits. Each digit may be used only once, and no other digits may be used. The expression may use the following operators: +, -, *, /, ^ (exponentiation), (, and ). Use of decimals is also permitted.

At the end of each week, the following events occur:

1) Each player's expression is evaluated, and that player is assigned a number equal to its value. Players who do not submit expressions are not assigned numbers.

2) If an odd number of players submitted an expression to the Time Drop, then all players whose number equals the median of all players' numbers that week receive a Handful of points.

3) If an even number of people submitted an expression to the Time Drop, then the players whose numbers are closest to the median of all players' numbers that week receive Several points.

Instead of a time drop, the administrator may provide an implementation that automatically evaluates players' expressions. If he does so, all references to the time drop above shall be construed to mean the extant implementation of the Middle Man game.
